998cc Honda CB-F Concept Bike Officially Revealed

998cc Honda CB-F Concept Bike Officially Revealed

After recently launching the Honda CT125 Hunter Cub, the brand has revealed the CB-F concept bike at the ‘Honda Virtual Motorcycle Show’. Based on the CB900F, the brand was expected to showcase the CB-F concept at the 36th Osaka Motorcycle Show as well as the 47th Tokyo Motorcycle Show though the ongoing coronavirus pandemic scare has made the authorities to take help of their digital platforms to unveil the motorcycle.

Taking styling cues from the CB900F, the Honda CB-F concept has been equipped with a boxy design language though it looks sharper at the edges. The concept motorcycle measures 2,120mm in length, 790mm in width and 1,070mm in height. The rear edge of the motorcycle concept has been imparted a sleeker outlook while the overall retro profile adds to its exclusivity.

The brand has further equipped the concept motorcycle with a round headlight in addition to offering the retro Honda logo on the fuel tank. Commenting on the unveiling of the Honda CB-F concept, Honda officials stated: “the CB-F concept is the result of revisiting the CB series’ history, which reached its sixth-decade last year, and thoroughly exploring what to preserve, and what to evolve with the company’s flagship sports bike.”

Coming to the mechanical bits, powering the CB-F concept bike is a 998cc, water-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, in-line, 4-cylinder DOHC engine that has been borrowed from the Honda CB1000R. The brand has not yet revealed the power and torque values of the upcoming machine though the similar engine on the CB1000R is capable of churning out a maximum power of 143HP and a peak torque of 104Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The suspension duties on the Honda CB-F concept are handled by Upside Down (USD) forks at the front and a monoshock absorber at the rear. The old school looks of the motorcycle and a lightweight chassis will be capable of attracting a wider range of audience and at the same time sets it apart from the rather modernistic Honda CB1000R.

The brand will also be revealing more than 20 other products via its ‘Honda Virtual Motorcycle Show” that has been organized after the cancellation of the motor shows due to the pandemic situation.
