As per the recent reports, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is all set to launch the Activa 6G at the Auto Expo in February 2020. The new-generation Honda Activa will meet the BSVI emission norms while the scooter will also get various new connectivity features. In order to keep its dominating legacy alive in the two-wheeler segment, the brand is also planning to introduce a host of new mechanical updates on the Activa 6G.
The 110cc scooter is expected to get smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, and it will feature turn-by-turn navigation support. The 6G model is also expected to get call alert feature inspired by the TVS NTorq 125. Coming to the other changes, the next-gen Honda Activa will feature an external fuel filler which would be a first a Honda Scooter in India.
The Honda Activa 6G will be equipped with 12-inch alloy wheels and will also get a front disc brake as an option. Some reports also suggest that the new 6G version will get an all-digital instrument console. In order to improve the ride quality over bad road conditions, the brand is all set to equip the 110cc scooter with telescopic forks at the front which will be replacing the trailing link front suspension, available on the current generation of models.
In addition to these features, the brand will also be updating the 110cc single-cylinder engine to meet the new BSVI emission norms, that will be under effect starting from April 1, 2020. According to the reports, Honda is highly likely to equip the two-wheeler with a fuel injection system without sacrificing its performance.
All the new mechanical and cosmetic updates will result in a price hike for the Honda Activa by around INR 5,000-7,000. Currently, the base model of Activa 5G is available in the market for INR 54,632 (ex-showroom Delhi). After the official launch in India at the Auto Expo 2020, the Honda Activa 6G will be competing in the market with the likes of TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Fascino, and the Hero Maestro Edge.
