Honda is one of those few manufacturers that are creating all new segments in the Indian market. They are placing their high end products closer to the lower segment by bringing them as CKDs for the country. After CBR650F, the second product to enter the same league is Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin The motorcycle is made at Kumamoto facility of Honda in Japan while recent earthquakes resulted in production halt for the Africa Twin. This led to some delay for its international delivery.

Even when bringing the same via CKD route, Africa Twin CRF1000L carries minimum amount of localization but would get relief from the high taxation that comes through the CBU route. Honda did the same with CBR650F and launched it in August 2015, nearly one and a half year after the Auto Expo 2016. Honda Africa Twin is powered by a 999.11cc engine, producing 87.16 BHP at 7500 rpm and 91.9 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm.

The motorcycle offers 250 mm of ground clearance and comes with relatively high 820/840 mm of adjustable seat height. It is best suited for riders who prefer off-road riding and need a bike that can move over any terrain.

The motorcycle uses 21 inch front while its rear wheel is 18 inch in diameter. Honda Africa Twin is a strict rival to the Triumph Tiger series. The bike is also equipped with 2-Channel ABS and the company claimed to speed of Africa Twin is 190 kmph.
