According to the recent reports, Honda is planning to introduce a new 150cc adventure touring motorcycle that will be christened as Honda CB150M. The motorcycle will be initially launched in Thailand. The brand is also said to be working on the production versions of the CB125M and CB125X concept models, which were unveiled at EICMA in November 2018. Europe will be the first market to receive the production version of the Honda CB125M.
Taking the design inspiration from the Honda CB150R Streetster and the CB125M, the upcoming CB150M will get a commanding riding position with a wide handlebar placed higher in comparison to the brand’s regular street bikes. The production version of the motorcycle will be equipped with more road-centric tyres that will be replacing the slick tyres as shown in the concept version.
Honda’s Italian R&D team will be responsible for the development of the upcoming motorcycle. Powering the CB150M will be the same engine that does duty on the CBR150R. The 149cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 17.1HP and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission.
The suspension duties on the motorcycle will be handled by 41mm upside-down telescopic forks at the front while the rear will feature a monoshock suspension. The Honda CB150M will get petal disc brakes at either end.
The brand will be replacing the SC-Project exhaust unit as shown in the concept version with a more affordable exhaust canister in order to keep the cost under check. When launched in India, the upcoming Honda CB150M will compete in the market with the likes of Yamaha MT-15 Tracer, expected to hit the Indian roads in the coming months.
