Honda CB160R Reportedly in the Works; Patent Images Leaked!

Among the recent updates, a set of patent drawings have surfaced online that give us an insight into an all-new Honda street bike that has reportedly been built on the platform of the India-spec CB Hornet 160R. Rumoured to be known as Honda CB160R, the all-new 160cc neo-retro motorcycle is being speculated to make a debut in the Indian market in future.

According to the recently leaked patent images, the clearly visible design of the next-gen Honda motorcycle showcases a resemblance towards a modern scrambler. The bike is reportedly powered by the CB Hornet’s 160cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. The Honda CB160R gets a diamond type frame that draws a similarity with the chassis that is present in the CB150 Verza, which is an Indonesia-spec 150cc-segment street bike.

The lower part of the chassis towards the bottom of the engine doesn’t feature a transverse tube and it is rather based on a single downtube architecture, which again is a similarity with the CB150 Verza. The suspension duties of the motorcycle are handled by a monoshock absorber at the rear end while the front end of the bike features USD (upside down) telescopic forks.

The exhaust unit of the Honda CB160R features a mid-ship design while the catalytic converter has been positioned at the bottom of the motorcycle. The seat of the street motorcycle is short in design and thus does not feature a rear fender behind it. You can spot the rear fender mounted on the swingarm, which provides the bike with a unique look.

The leaked patent images also give an insight that the bike will be equipped with an all-LED headlight housed in a round shell. The tail light, as well as the turn-indicator lights, are also expected to get LED treatment. The upcoming motorcycle will be equipped with an all-digital instrument console like the current-gen 150cc-segment streetfighters.

The Honda CB160R features a petal disc brake setup at either end with a single-channel ABS unit as standard. At present, the chances of the bike entering the Indian shores are quite cloudy and even if Honda plans to launch the CB160R in India, then it is unlikely to happen before the end of 2020 or by early 2021.
