Honda CBR250R Sales Down to 0 Units in November 2019

The recent downfall in the Indian automotive industry has hit major two-wheeler manufacturers with Honda being one of them. Once considered a hero in the motorcycle segment, the Honda CBR250R has registered a disappointing sales figure of zero units in November 2019.

The motorcycle registered a 100% decline in the overall sales when compared to the 104 units registered in the same month last year. Honda CBR250R has been posting poor sales figures from the past few months as the customers are now keen on getting their hands on other quarter-litre segment motorcycles like Suzuki SF 250, Jawa 300, Yamaha FZ25, and the KTM Duke 250.

The CBR250R is currently available in the market at a price tag of INR 1.96 lakh while the customers have an option to avail the higher displacement Bajaj Dominar 400 at just INR 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Another reason for the downfall in the sales for the Honda CBR250R is that the customers are waiting for the brand to roll out the BS6-compliant model of the motorcycle before the new emission norms commence in India from April 1, 2020. The brand has been stretching offering the motorcycle with basic features from quite some time now.

The same old last-gen design language with same old setup for the headlights, the motorcycle falls weak when it comes to competing with the likes of the motorcycles from brands like KTM, Suzuki and TVS. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is currently available in the market at a price tag of INR 1.71 lakh and featuring a splendid design language is another reason for the declining sales of the CBR250R.

Certain reports also suggest that the brand will be launching the Honda CBR300R next year which will ultimately replace the CBR250R in the Indian market though there is no official confirmation on the same. To jog your memory, powering the Honda CBR250R is a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that is good for 26.5HP @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 22.9Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.
