Honda CBR250R Registers 97% Sales Drop in October 2019

The huge 97% drop in sales for the Honda CBR250R confirms that faith on older products is getting weaker with each passing day. The model is now only available with an ABS-equipped braking setup and comes with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.96 lakh.

Options like Jawa 300 and other above quarter-litre bikes have given the freedom of selection to the buyers that were earlier missing from this segment. Buyers can even consider the Bajaj Dominar 400 at INR 1.90 lakh. Not just that, a lot of motorcycles priced lower than the CBR250R have more power output and features.

Honda is using the same old single headlight design for their product and getting options like TVS Apache RR 310 and the KTM RC 390 with a slight increase in the budget further worsens the situation. The brand is facing tough times for all the products considering the recent downfall in the two-wheeler industry. In addition to this, the decline in sales is also justified since the customers are waiting for the BS6-compliant models to be revealed soon.

The 249cc, single-cylinder engine on the CBR250R is good for 26.5HP of maximum power. The entry of the all-new Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 at INR 1.71 lakh has further made the situation uneasy for Honda as the motorcycle undercuts its nearest rival by INR 25,000. Yamaha FZ25 is another reason for the downfall of Honda CBR250R in India.
