Honda 2-wheelers have revealed the NSF250R Moto3 race bike in India at a press conference in Chennai. The brand has specifically unveiled this motorcycle for the IDEMITSU NSF250R Talent Cup 2019. The talent cup has been organized with the objective of developing an ideal Indian rider suitable for national and international championships.
The brand has shortlisted 8 riders for competing in the talent cup namely Sarthak Shrikant Chava, Kavin Samaar Quintal, Geoffrey, Mohammed Mikhail, S Varoon, Mohsin, Charan T, and Kritik Habib. All these riders have been selected from the 2018 Honda India Talent Hunt.
Honda is all set to conduct the IDEMITSU Talent Hunt 2019 in 5 cities in the country with the motive of identifying next-generation riders within the 13-17 years of age. The shortlisted riders will be groomed for accelerated career development.
Honda won the Moto3 constructor’s Championship in 2015 with the NSF250R. The race bike is powered by a 249.3cc single cylinder liquid-cooled engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 47.6 HP at 13,000 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
In addition to the NSF250R, the brand also unveiled the race-spec version of the Honda CBR150R for competing in the 165cc ProStock category of the 2019 Indian National Racing Championship (INMRC).
Commenting on the unveiling of NSF250R for the IDEMITSU Talent Cup 2019, Mr Prabhu Nagaraj, Vice President – Brand and Communications, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said:
“Worldwide, racing starts at a very young age. To address this problem in India, we introduced the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt – a platform to identify young riders in 2018. Already, these young guns are showing high-potential. As the next step, Honda is now bringing the World to India with the Moto3 machine NSF250R. This revolutionary step is the first ever by any manufacturer and will exponentially accelerate the development of future stars of racing and propel them in the international arena too. Parallel, with the debut into Pro-Stock 200-300 category, Honda will challenge itself to further lead and expand the motorsport culture in India.”
