Honda Rebel 250 Unveiled in Japan

Honda Rebel 250 was recently unveiled at Osaka Motor Show in Japan. The motorcycle is built around the same frame as Rebel 300, keeping everything exactly the same except the downsized engine. It can be a coincidence but the news of its unveil came at the same time when people around the industry were talking about Honda developing a Royal Enfield competitor for India. Although, the difference in engine size is pretty large.

Royal Enfield bikes are based on retro design language and Rebel series is even moving in the same direction, The Bobber based design appeal to a wide array of customers who are impressed by those large tyres and relaxed sitting position. Honda is using the same 249 cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected unit as the Japan spec 2017 CBR250R, most probably producing 29 PS and 23 Nm of torque from the engine.

Indian market still gets the older CBR250R but the engine is still one of the most reliable units available on offer. This could led to potential cost cutting on the Honda’s side. They have even clarified that people from Thailand and Japan have been sent to India for a new mid sized motorcycle for India. This could mean something special as they have to tune and build a new bike by keeping in mind the major requirements of the targeted country.
