Honda Removes 13 Two-Wheelers from its Official Website
According to the latest reports, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially removed 13 two-wheelers from its portfolio. The brand was one of the first automotive brands in India that led the game with the launch of BS6-compliant products, though major products under its portfolio are left to be updated with BS6-compliant engines.
As the BS6 emission norms are now valid in the country since April 1, 2020, the brand has only three scooters and three motorcycles under its portfolio that comply with the latest emission norms while a long list of products is yet to be updated.
For the time being, the brand has officially removed thirteen BS4-compliant products from its official website though it is expected that Honda will bring back some of the 2-wheelers with BS6-compliant engines in the coming months. There has been no official confirmation on what products would be receiving the BS6 upgrade as the brand has halted every operation at its dealerships and factories due to the nationwide lockdown to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
The scooters which have been updated with a BS6-compliant engine includes the likes of Honda Activa 6G, Activa 125, and Dio while the motorcycles with a BS6 engine now includes 2020 Honda Unicorn, Honda Shine 125 and Honda SP125.
The products that have been permanently or temporarily removed from Honda India’s portfolio also includes the Navi. The 110cc product that has been imparted a motorcycle-inspired outlook has not been updated with a BS6-compliant engine as of yet.
In addition to the Navi 110, the brand has officially removed the Honda Cliq, the 110cc scooter based on the Activa 5G and specifically designed to target the rural segment. HMSI has also removed other 110cc two-wheeler variants from its official website which includes the likes of Honda Livo, Dream Yuga, Dream Neo, and the CD110 Dream.
The 160cc portfolio under the brand which features Honda CB Unicorn 160, CB Hornet 160R, and the X-Blade 160, have also been removed from the official website while the brand is expected to offer a BS6-compliant engine to the few in the coming months.
The Honda Activa-i, Grazia and Aviator scooters have been officially sacked by the brand while the Honda CBR250R sportbike has also been discontinued and is expected to be launched in an all-new avatar though there is no official launch date or reports revealed on the same.
As far as the premium bikes are concerned, apart from the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, the brand is yet to offer BS6-compliant engines to multiple motorcycles that continue to be listed on the website in their BS4 versions. Here is the list of such products:
