Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) achieved a new milestone by selling more than 50 lakh two wheelers in the last financial year. The major section (30 lakh+) was achieved through selling automatic scooters in the country. This makes it the first 100 percent Honda subsidiary to create such a benchmark in the company’s history. The total sales registered were up by 12 percent from 44,83,462 to 50,08,103 in the FY 2016-17.

Sharing highlights of the sales performance in 2016-17, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president (sales and marketing), said, “Early in FY’16-17, especially after the monsoon and 7th CPC, industry was hopeful of double-digit growth. The second half was, however, a challenging time and the two-wheeler industry closed the fiscal with only 5 percent growth. Honda is today the highest volume gainer as well as the market share gainer of the industry.”
