The news has been officially confirmed by Mr YS Guleria, Honda’s Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. Even when bringing the same via CKD route, the bike will carry minimum amount of localization but would get relief from the high taxation that comes through the CBU route. Honda did the same with CBR650F and launched it in August 2015, nearly one and a half year after the Auto Expo 2016. Honda Africa Twin is powered by a 998cc engine, producing 92.61 BHP at 7500 rpm and 98 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The motorcycle offers 250 mm of ground clearance and comes with relatively high 850/870 mm of adjustable seat height. It is best suited for riders who prefer off-road riding and need a bike that can move over any terrain. The motorcycle uses 21 inch front while its rear wheel is 18 inch in diameter. It would be priced around INR 13-14 lakh, making it a strict rival to the Triumph Tiger series. It even offers ABS and DCT as an option.
