The 'India Bike Week 2019' witnessed the surprise unveiling of the all-new 250cc Husqvarna motorcycles in the Indian market. Christened as Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250, both the motorcycles are based on the underpinnings of the KTM Duke 250 while gets different designing traits. 1. Design and Style - The brand has offered the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 with a cafe racer-inspired design language borrowed from the Vitpilen 401. The clip-on style handlebars on the motorcycle further offer a lean riding position. Similarly, inspired from the designing bits of the Svartpilen 401, the Svartpilen 250 motorcycle features a more rugged scrambler appearance with an upright riding position. The brand has further equipped both the 250cc Husqvarna bikes with 17-inch alloy wheels. Featuring a lightweight frame, kerb weight of the Vitpilen 250 stands at 153kgs while the Svartpilen 250 weighs only 1kg heavier at 154kgs. 2. Engine and Gearbox - Powering both the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 is a 248.8cc single-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled BS6 engine that is capable of offering a maximum power figure of 31HP @ 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 24Nm @ 7250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The brand has equipped the motorcycles with an anti-hopping slipper clutch that offers smoother gear shift mechanism even at high speeds. Like the KTM Duke 250, the brand has not equipped the 250cc Husqvarna bikes with a coloured TFT display. The instrument panel further offers complete ride analytics and features speedometer, odometer, gear indicator and more. The round design offered to the console adds to the motorcycles' retro appeal. 4. Brakes and Suspension - The Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 have been equipped WP-sourced upside-down forks at the front with 142mm travel while the rear has been equipped with a monoshock absorber with 150mm travel. The braking power is offered by a 320mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm disc brake at the rear. Both the brakes are mated to a dual-channel ABS unit sourced from BOSCH. 5. Expected Price and Launch Details - The brand is expected to launch the debutant Husqvarna 250cc variants on February 14, 2020, while one can expect the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 to carry a price tag of around INR 2.30 lakh and INR 2.40 lakh respectively.
