Bajaj All-Set to Launch Made-in-Austria Husqvarna Bikes in India

Bajaj All-Set to Launch Made-in-Austria Husqvarna Bikes in India

Bajaj Auto recently confirmed that first batch of Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 will arrive in India through the CBU route. As both the bikes are produced in Austria presently, Bajaj is exploring more options to get local production in the priority pipeline. The earlier reports claimed that Indian-made version of both the Husqvarna bikes will launch in early 2019 but now, they have delayed the production plan in favor of CBU route for the bikes. The early 2019 plan for launch stays intact, leaving buyers with a small time frame to explore the possibility of owning any of the two bikes.

It may take up to 6 months for Bajaj to start production after the official launch, leaving no option but a clean chance for buyers to get hands on the imported version. Also, the price tag will surprisingly be huge for a motorcycle of this size. Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 use the same 373.2cc engine as the KTM bikes, bringing almost identical output values and thus, least amount of value of money factor for the CBU lineup. The part sharing is clearly visible, with both these bikes using the familiar KTM frame, WP suspension and same engine with a different outer casing.

Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 comes with a cafe racer identity, using road specific tires and spoke wheels for the perfect combination while Svartpilen 401 uses off-road options and Scrambler inspired feel for the other type of buyers. The dual-channel ABS remains identical to the version seen on KTM bikes. Bajaj Auto and partner brands are planning to cut on the production cost for many bikes by bringing them to the Indian manufacturing hub. Once the production starts in India, Austrian plant will start making other premium models in place of the 401 Vitpilen and Svartpilen.
