India-Spec Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 Spotted in a New Set of Photos

The near-production version of Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 has been spotted testing in India. Though the bike has been heavily camouflaged, the number of changes made to the India-spec variant can still be seen. Unlike the global-spec variant, the model spotted in India gets KTM Duke 390 alike orange alloy wheels while featuring a Husqvarna branded engine casing.

In addition to this, the bike features MRF tyres unlike the Metzeler Sportec M5 on the European Spec model though, the Metzeler tyres can be introduced in India at the time of launch. The bike features an LED round headlamp as well as a single seat unit, unlike the global-spec model.

The large rear seat and grab rail do look odd at first sight, but this setup makes the bike rather more comfortable for the pillion rider. The India-spec Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 features a radiator with a crash guard which is essentially not available on the Euro-spec model. The motorcycle is equipped with Upside Down (USD) forks at the front while it has a monoshock suspension at the rear.

In order to take the production costs down, the brand is seen experimenting with locally sourced parts for the bike. Following the new government regulations of making every vehicle BSVI compliant by April 2020, the brand has adopted a different approach in the exhaust placement. Powering the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine capable of offering 43.5 HP of maximum power while it generates an utmost torque of 37 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

When launched in India, the bike will compete in the market with the likes of BMW G310R, Honda CB300R, Benelli TNT 300 and KTM 390 Duke. Considering major parts for the bike have been borrowed from KTM Duke 390, the bike is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 3 lakh (approximate).
