For the first time outside of Sweden, the next generation Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 has been spotted testing unmasked. The India-bound Husky has a new fly screen and minor exterior changes.
The USD forks now have guards, and the radiator side guards are much larger. The tank side extensions are ridiculously large and add a lot of character. The instrument cluster appears to be new and may be jam-packed with data.
The rear frame is longer and flatter, making the pillion more comfortable. The seat is longer, with a proportionate back. The tail light is larger, and the bike now has an extended mud flap instead of the previous model’s tyre hugger.
The knobby dual-purpose tyres have been kept, as has the black steel trellis frame. Risers are added to the handlebars, and retro elements such as the round headlamp, exposed frame, and round RVMs are used throughout the bike.
The outgoing model’s 125cc DOHC 4 valve engine produces 15 HP at 9500 RPM and 12 Nm at 7500 RPM and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Husqvarna is likely to keep the engine on the new bike.
The fuel-injected engine on the Husqvarna is already Euro 5 compliant. The outgoing bike is outfitted with WP suspension and Bybre brakes on both ends. It has front tyres measuring 110/70-17 and rear tyres measuring 150/60-17. The kerb weight is 153 kg, and the ground clearance is 145mm.
Husqvarna may release a purely road-going version with alloy wheels and on-road tyres. The alloy wheels are a direct descendant of the KTMs.
The all-new Svartpilen 125 could make its global debut later this year, with an Indian launch planned for next year. Because the KTM Duke 125 and RC 125 sold well during the initial hype, Bajaj may consider bringing this new Husqvarna here.
