Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India are preparing to launch the first BS6 two-wheeler of India on June 12, 2019. The brand is promoting the same as a ‘silent vehicle’ that may misguide many of us into the direction of an electric vehicle but in actual terms, they are ready with India’s first BS6 two-wheeler to keep their promise of green mobility in action.
The most powerful factor to drive the BS6 growth is a dramatic reduction in COx and NOx emissions, helping everybody take part in keeping the environment clean when compared to regular products falling under the BS3 and BS4 segment. Honda calls the product launch event ‘A Quiet Revolution’, hinting at a refined product that will use fuel injection and other modern-day equipment to bring fuel wastage down to an unimaginable level.
Another confusion that arrives from their invite pattern is the new or existing debate, with most experts claiming the same to be a two-wheeler based on one of their popular selling series. Honda India may not take a risk of raising the price for their most selling product through the BS6-introduction and thus, a two-wheeler that shares the name and stays independent from the existing ones is the best bet. Every brand has to follow the deadline of March 31, 2020, as this will be the last day for selling the existing BS4 stock from the inventory.
The most brands will not repeat the mistake of making excess two-wheelers like they did when switching from BS3 to BS4 norms and Honda’s step of bringing the BS6 two-wheeler can save them a lot in comparison to the brands who will keep producing the BS4-compliant vehicles till the last month. However, the cost raise expectations can fall between INR 3000-5000 for regular product with the introduction of fuel injection and other efficient components.
