Jawa Classic and Jawa 42 to Get Perak’s 334cc BS6 Engine

Jawa has recently launched the Perak Bobber with a BS6-compliant engine in the Indian market at a price tag of INR 1.94 lakhs (ex-showroom). The bookings of the most anticipated bobber from the brand will start from January 1, 2020, while the deliveries are promised after April 2, 2020. In addition to this, the latest reports suggest that the brand will borrow the 334cc BS6-compliant engine from the Perak Bobber for the upcoming Jawa Classic and Jawa Forty-Two motorcycle variants.

The higher engine displacement variants of the currently existing Jawa motorcycles will be made available to the customers alongside the existing 293cc variants though, how the brand will manage to make both of the variants exciting for the customers still seems to be unknown. The new 334cc variants of Jawa 42 and Classic are expected to launch in the Indian market by mid-2020.

Jawa Classic 300

Apart from the higher engine displacement, the brand is not expected to alter any cosmetic bits for both the motorcycles to keep the costs under check. Currently, the Jawa Classic and Jawa 42 are powered by a BS4-compliant 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable to develop a maximum power of 27HP and a peak torque of 28Nm. On the other hand, the 334cc BS6 engine on the Perak Bobber is good for 30HP of maximum power and 31 Nm of maximum torque.

Retaining the same suspension bits with telescopic forks at the front and twin-sided spring suspension at the rear, the new higher displacement variants of Jawa Forty Two and Cassic are expected to feature disc brakes at either end mated to dual-channel ABS as standard.

Jawa Forty-Two

Currently, the dual-channel ABS variants of the Jawa Forty Two and Jawa Classic are available in the market at a price tag of INR 1.64 lakhs and INR 1.73 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively while the new 334cc variants are expected to get a price hike of around INR 12,000 to INR 16,000 in comparison the standard variants. It is also being rumoured that Classic Legends is planning to launch three new Jawa motorcycles in the coming 18 months in the Indian market.
