The Kerala RTO recently denied registration to a Galactic Green Jawa 42. As listed on the official website of Jawa, the Forty-Two is available in six colours. Out of them, when the Galactic Green colour was introduced, people wondered whether this would be legal or not. As the Indian government has banned the use of Olive Green colour for civilians, it can be only used by military personnel and army vehicles.
The owner of a Galactic Green Jawa 42 is facing problems regarding the registration at a local Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Ernakulam, Kerala. According to the officer in charge, the Galactic Green colour of the Jawa 42 is in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act and therefore he has denied the registration of the motorcycle.
The RTO officer has written a letter to the dealer, who delivered the Jawa 42. The letter dated 16th July 2019 states: “On inspection of the vehicle, at the time of permanent registration, the authorities realized that the vehicle is with the colour of Olive Green, which is against the existing Motor Vehicles Rule. Hence you are directed to attend for a personal hearing before the undersigned within 7 days with relevant documents.”
The dealer shared the letter with the owner who then contacted Ashish Joshi, the CEO of Classic Legends. Here is what the Jawa’s CEO has to say about it: “Should not be the case. Bikes are being registered all over the country. Am looking into it and will come back to you soon.”
He also said that: “We have met the RTO and are addressing his problem. To be honest, he wanted a bike delivered without waiting for it and we refused. Hence he is trying to create a hassle. In the next 2-3 days, all documents pertaining to colour will be handed over so that he cannot hassle our customers or us again.”
