As per the latest details available, the Jawa adventure motorcycle is expected to be launched in India next year. The much-anticipated addition to the highly recognised Jawa series, premiered by the Classic Legends, the motorcycle will fall under the adventure tourer sub-category.
The prototype of the 300cc Jawa adventure motorcycle is expected to be officially unveiled at the Auto Expo in February 2020. It would be competing with the likes of Hero xPulse 200 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 410, with engine size falling right in the middle of both these adventure motorcycles.
Unveiling the roadster series with the introduction of Jawa 300 and Forty-Two, and the Bobber portfolio with Jawa Perak, the brand was highly secretive of the specifications of the adventure series at the official launch event of the former two.
The brand is highly likely to introduce the adventure motorcycle with the same 293cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine to keep in check the practicality as well as cost-effectiveness. The engine for the Jawa adventure motorcycle may get a different power delivery curve and it is also expected to offer better low as well as mid-range torque. The motorcycle will come equipped with a 6-speed gearbox.
Coming to the mechanical bits, the adventure motorcycle is expected to get USD telescopic forks at the front while the rear end of the motorcycle will get a monoshock. The braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at either end with a 2-channel ABS unit as standard. The adventure bike is expected to feature impressive front wheel travel while one can expect an iconic Jawa inspired round headlight and a tall windscreen for the tourer.
The re-entry of the iconic brand in the Indian market did bring out the nostalgia among the buyers which led to an overflow of bookings for the motorcycles online as well as across every Jawa dealership. The gigantic waiting time and the lag in deliveries made the brand receive some harsh criticism from the fans.
Though justifying the overwhelming response and the huge number of bookings, the Jawa officials are trying to keep the hopes up by increasing the production of the motorcycles by several-fold. The resurrected brand is also focusing on increasing the number of its dealerships across the country to reach a wider audience.
The Jawa adventure motorcycle is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.90 lakh, while the exact price tag will be unveiled at the time of the official launch event. The deliveries for Jawa 300 and Jawa 42, priced at INR 1.64 lakh and INR 1.55 lakh respectively, commenced recently.
