2017 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Launched @ INR 9.98 lakh

2017 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 was recently launched in India at INR 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Surprisingly, the 2016 version was priced much higher and based on the same platform, the 2017 Z1000 is even priced higher than both the values. The launch price of INR 9.98 lakhs is ex-showroom pan India.

This makes Ninja 1000 as the most value for money tourer in the Indian market, leaving behind all brands like BMW, Suzuki, Ducati and Triumph in the country. Before its launch, possibility of buying a four cylinder liter class bike under INR 10 lakh was not even visible in the dreams. The new 2017 Ninja 1000 gets wider fairing for better leg protection, better windshield and LED headlights.

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is powered by a 1043cc, four cylinder engine producing 142 PS at 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm at 7300 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Kawasaki intelligent braking and cornering management system makes Ninja 1000 an excellent option for long distance smooth riding. The top speed of the bike is limited to 250 kmph.

Traction and wheelie control even help amateur riders control the Ninja in the most comfortable manner. The reason for its price drop is the new semi-knocked down (SKD) route for Ninja 1000. It was first brought through CBU route and that increased the taxes considerably.

Kawasaki Z1000 is currently coming through the CBU route, making it nearly INR 4.5 lakh expensive than the fully faired tourer. Only 20 units for 2017 Ninja 1000 will be allotted to India in the first phase. When sales would rise, they will increase the number gradually and may even try bringing other models based on the same frame through this route.
