2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400 Launched in Japan; Gets New Colours

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400 has been recently launched in Japan at a price tag of JPY 7,12,800 (INR 4.75 lakh). Apart from the two new colour schemes, there aren’t any mechanical changes offered to the motorcycle.

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has also launched the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400 KRT in addition to the new colour schemes for the MY2020 update. The customers can avail the new colours in the market from September 1, 2019, in Japan though, the brand is highly unlikely to launch the 2020 Ninja 400 KRT edition in the Indian market anytime soon.

The updated Kawasaki Ninja 400 can now be availed in two new stunning shades including ‘Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Matte Graphite Grey’ and ‘Pearl Blizzard White/Metallic Spark Black’. In addition to these, the brand has launched the KRT edition of the motorcycle in ‘Lime Green/Ebony’ colour scheme.

The KRT edition was given a miss for 2019 though the 2020 variant has been specifically unveiled for paying tribute to the Kawasaki’s controversial win at this year’s Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race.

Inspired from the Ninja ZX-10RR driven by Jonathan Ray and Leon Haslam, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 KRT Edition features red highlights and a mesh graphic on the side fairing with ‘400’ moniker. The motorcycle gets a larger windscreen at the front that adds to its sporty exterior.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400 remains mechanically unaltered. Powering the motorcycle is the same 399cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, DOHC engine capable of generating a maximum power figure of 49 HP at 10,000 rpm and 38 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission while the company claimed mileage of the 400cc machine now stands at 24.8 km/l. The ground clearance of 140mm makes the motorcycle easy to handle on every terrain.

Coming to the suspension, the brand has equipped the motorcycle with conventional telescopic forks at the front while the rear features a bottom link monoshock. The braking duties are handled by a 310mm petal disc brake with dual-piston callipers at the front and a 220mm petal brake with dual-piston callipers at the rear.

Currently, the Ninja 400 is available in India at a price tag of INR INR 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is expected that Kawasaki will introduce new colours in the Indian market in the coming months.
