The 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has been teased through a video on the brand’s official Facebook Page in India. Even a close source to Kawasaki has hinted at this advancement. The news not just brings joy for the SuperSport motorcycle lovers but also confirms lower overall cost through local assembly route for the country. The regulations in India allow just completely built-up units (CBU) to be road legal without any homologation process. All others have to pass some tests and prove that they are fit for road use. The CKD route attracts lower taxation as manufacturing is done in the parent country and assembly takes place in India. The process involves job creation and thus, lower taxation than the other route.
Kawasaki is improving its footprint in the country, switching from CBU to CKD for most popular products. They are using the same route for Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja 1000, first of its kind initiative where pricing is record low in comparison to the rivals. Bringing ZX-6R through CKD route will help them place the motorcycle genuinely for those who prefer track riding as their favorite sport. Also, the gap between the liter-class ZX-10R and this 600cc SuperSport machine can be justified. Kawasaki is also expected to move Z1000 and Z900RS into this league soon.
2019 Model of Ninja ZX-6R is powered by 636cc, four-cylinder engine, producing 129.2 BHP at 13,500 rpm and 71 Nm at 11,500 rpm. The high power output and lightweight body (196 kg) result in 0-100 kph time of under 3.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 262 kph on the motorcycle. The sprint times are dependent on the weight of a rider. Kawasaki will try sharing most components among Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-6R. Still, the liter class racer will get bigger brakes and more sophisticated features for sure. The RR variant of ZX-6R may not get introduced along with the standard version. The Ninja ZX-6R is expected to be priced under INR 10 lakh in India.
