Kawasaki India is all ready to play the second innings of its product assembly in India. They are ready with their new plant in Chakan (Pune) and will start assembling more bike from September 2017.
The end of alliance with Bajaj Auto seems to favor their luck in terms of assembly as they will soon be seen as the most reasonably priced performance brand of India. The launch of Ninja 1000 at INR 9.98 lakh has already surprised every fan around the country as no other manufacturer offers this class of bike under the 10 lakh barrier.
The local assembly of more models will soon be a reality as reports estimate around three times of rise in this number. They currently offer Ninja 1000 through SKD route while CKD will even lower down the taxes on all Kawasaki motorcycles.
This year, Ninja 1000 just has 20 allotted units for India while after September, the number of units may rise with if parallel availability of parts from Japan stays healthy. Kawasaki suffered a lot in terms of sales network and product reach as total number of dealerships went down from 300+ to just 12. If everything goes as planned, Kawasaki will target double the number of vehicles sold currently by 2020.
If Ninja 1000 goes the local assembly way, chances for Z1000 and Versys 1000 following the same route are very high. They even took a bold step and removed accessories from their Z900 to place it at INR 7.68 lakh. That was a straight drop of INR 1.32 lakh from its earlier price. They have the longest lineup of superbikes when compared to all other brands in this segment.
Not just that, their Ninja H2 is the only production superbike to carry a supercharger with its engine. That makes the track version (H2R) good for 310 PS and 165 Nm of torque.
