In order to harmonise with the already retailing W175 and W175 Cafe, a third variation has been added to the Kawasaki W retro family by the name W175TR and it is being promoted as a street scrambler. This new edition has been unveiled with distinctive styling and authentic retro looks.
Kawasaki Indonesia has recently also released an official video of the motorcycle. The video features Rui Yamagishi, who is a professional chef. In the video, the bike is claimed to be equipped with new side covers, new megaphone silencer, a narrow-styled fuel tank, multi-purpose style pattern tyres, metal skidplate (which is only present in the SE model), high position fender, and up-styled handlebars.
Apart from the said features, the Kawasaki W175TR is also equipped with an upswept muffler and an elongated suspension system. The bike has also been given an exhaust update that focuses on engine performance.
The tyres of the bike that have a multipurpose-style tread pattern promise a smooth off-road experience. The low-mid range and the high-positioned handlebar are experts at providing an easier manoeuvrability for city riding. The bike also has a new seat on offer that aims at providing increased pillion comfort that makes it convenient to share the fun.
The Head of Sales and Promotion of Kawasaki Motors Indonesia, Micheal C. Tanadhi said the following about the addition of W175TR in his statement – “Because there are more W175 enthusiasts, we have a W175TR with a scrambler nuance to refresh the W175 variant. We are optimistic that this motorbike can be well received by the public.”
The Kawasaki W175TR is equipped with an all-analogue instrument console with retro looks. Mechanically, the motorcycle is equipped with a 177cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 13HP @ 7500 rpm with a peak torque of 13.6Nm @ 6000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
The launch event of the Kawasaki W175TR is the bike’s big shoutout in the Indonesian market and is also like the World Premier of the bike as Indonesia is the first country to get the W175TR. The launch event happened at KMI’s Marketing and Sales Office on Jalan Abdul Muis, Central Jakarta on November 28, 2019, which is the same date on which the video was released on YouTube by Kawasaki.
In terms of pricing, the standard model of the W175TR is available in Indonesia with a price tag of IDR 29.9 million (INR 1.54 lakh, approximate) while the SE model is priced at 32.3 million (INR 1.64 lakh, approximate). As far as the launch in India is concerned, the brand is highly unlikely to launch the W175TR street scrambler in the Indian market.
