Update – January 17, 2017 – Official Photos of 2017 KTM Duke 250 + Official Specs
2017 KTM 250 Duke may not be an Indian spec model anymore but what makes it special is its relation to the Indian upcoming 200 Duke. The baby Duke 200 will be exactly the same as the 250 Duke, loosing just few cubic centimeters from its engine (250 to 200) and dual channel ABS. The design, instrumentation and components will remain exactly the same as this 250 Duke. The changes that can be seen from the bigger 390 Duke is a smaller front disc, older instrument console as 2016 Duke and the front headlight section.
Key Specs of 2017 KTM Duke 250
KTM 200/250 Duke carries a different headlight that comes with no partition in the center and uses halogen bulb instead of LED technology. If compared to the KTM 125/390 Duke (that are build to the European standards), the other two are more like Asian spec models and are sold in few countries. India will most probably get the 2017 KTM 200 Duke and 390 Duke for itself while the same exports 125 Duke to the Europe and 250 Duke to Indonesia. Here are the detailed images for the components used on the motorcycle:
Original Post – November 15, 2016 – 2017 KTM 250 Duke followed the next generation styling from other Dukes being built in the same factory and got itself ready for the next year model through the inspiration from the nearest buddy, 2017 KTM 200 Duke. Yes, the quarter liter machine is actually close to the 200 cc Duke when it comes to styling and exclusivity.
Sharing the frame with 3 other Duke models, most of the components are a mix and match condition for the 250 Duke. It practically bridges the gap between 200 and 390 Duke, making it one of the best options if launched in India in 2017. The launch could be possible as KTM has not listed anyone out of 200 and 250 Duke on the official website yet. After considering all the feasibility studies and market position, it is possible that KTM brings the bigger one for justifying the increased price tag in a better way.
KTM 250 Duke’s engine is good for 29.5 BHP (lower by 1.4 BHP from the 2016 version) while its weight is exactly the same as KTM 200 Duke. The extensively available 5 BHP of more power can justify the Indian entry of 250 Duke and even a higher price tag. 250 Duke comes loaded with ABS as standard while its more powerful nature even brings slipper clutch to the bike. It has the rear half frame painted Orange while the wheels are kept Black.
The use of Metzeler tyres makes it even more confident on corners while the different instrument console could still be a drawback for the fully loaded but visually sober 2017 KTM 250 Duke. The bike is a perfect consideration for those who are not satisfied with the performance of 200 Duke but could not consider 390 Duke due to budget problems. It may get clear in January 2017 that which bikes KTM would be considering for the Indian market. If launched in India, Duke 250 would be priced somewhere around INR 1.75 lakhs (expected ex-showroom Price).
