In a recent YouTube video by Burn and Run, the upcoming KTM 390 Duke can be seen in its new avatar, camouflaged up to a certain extend but revealing a lot more about the newcomer. The motorcycle looks lighter, sharper and upmarket than the previous generation, thanks to the extensive use of new technology, which is again visible in the video. The model is expected to be revealed at this year’s EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.

The motorcycle is parked inside a parking lot. It uses the same Orange frame whose rear half has also been camouflaged. Comparing with the current version’s chassis, the new one uses a slightly different arrangement for a sharper and lighter rear end. Even the foot-pegs are different in the new version, having a hollow structure instead of the thick unit on the current generation model.
This particularly hints at weight lowering strategy of KTM, making the bike lighter than ever for a much aggressive sprint. The seat on the motorcycle has been stretched to the front for better thigh support. The tail light here is Pulsar inspired for sure. The exhaust can seen here must be for the European markets while the front headlight and the new fully digital instrument console is the star on the new 390 Duke.
The front headlight is a LED unit with silver surrounds, resembling the ones bring used on the SuperDuke but it cannot be confirmed that the same unit will be used in the production version. Bajaj even uses parts from other models in their test mules and KTM is no different in that case.
The buttons on the left side of the handlebar are supposed to be the controls for the LCD unit but can even be the rumored riding modes controls with very few chances of it.
The screen looks outdated as the only hope is KTM using a better design in the production version. Light weight and same engine would mean more performance and better fuel efficiency for the upcoming 390 Duke. The parts finished in Black (handlebar, foot-pegs etc) would most probably change in Silver finished ones in the production version as they were done in VS400.
The other changes include Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, rear suspension mud guard and fiber saree guard. The motorcycle may now come with ride by wire technology and would retain its slipper clutch and switchable ABS. It would definitely receive a bigger price tag is all these additions are present on the newcomer.
