2017 KTM Duke 390 & Duke 125 Recalled in Europe

2017 KTM Duke 390 & Duke 125 Recalled in Europe

KTM Europe has issued a recall regarding the new 390 Duke’s faulty LED headlight. The same motorcycle is being sold in India where dealers are silently updating the faulty software that makes the light randomly restart while riding. The same recall has been issued for KTM 125 Duke as it even carried the same LED headlight as the bigger Duke.

However, the Duke 125 is not on sale in India and as of now, KTM has no plans to launch it here. The headlight restart issue was also reported by various owners online as they complained of the headlight going off automatically while riding and coming up again without any notice.

2017 KTM Duke 390 was recently launched in India

KTM Europe said that, “During the internal endurance testing, KTM experienced some cases of sporadic reboots of the LED headlight. As this may lead to potentially dangerous riding situations, the software of the headlight needs to be updated as soon as possible.”

Apart from Europeans facing the problem, this could prove fatal as a high number of roads still lack adequate lighting in India and night driving could bring harm to the rider once the light goes off. City riding is actually not that dangerous but once on highway speeds, one could get into trouble within a single second.

KTM Duke 125 (Only for European Countries)

Existing 2017 KTM 390 Duke owners can simply visit their nearest dealership and get the problem resolved by updating the software that commands the headlight. Some owners have even reported that the TFT console also has same problem of restarting and KTM dealers have assured that both issues can be fixed with the software update.

KTM 390 Duke is carrying the same 373.3 cc, single cylinder engine on both the Indian as well as European version. The engine is good for 43.5 PS and 37 Nm of torque. It comes with the highest loaded technological features like ride by wire, LED headlight, dual channel ABS and TFT console in its segment. KTM 390 Duke comes with a price tag of INR 2,25,730 in India.
