Updated KTM Duke 200 with Side Exhaust Showcased at IIMS 2018

KTM Duke 200 was recently showcased with a side exhaust at Indonesia International Motor Show. The unit seen here remains exactly same as one seen on production spec KTM Duke 250 and Duke 390. Most expected change with this exhaust is improved torque delivery and impressive sound. They have kept the same old design for Duke 200 as one could have even expected KTM to showcase next gen design that matches KTM 250 Duke in all terms. They were offering discounts and offers on the show for almost entire lineup of products while special discount for KTM Duke 200’s exhaust was also available.

This also means that they were promoting the same as an accessory. Most probably, KTM will launch Duke 200 with all new design in India when fitting an exhaust becomes absolute necessity. It also makes sense as they will simply need to change the engine and keep all other things common between both bikes. Starting price for Duke 200 is already high and getting the new update will take the price high by around INR 10,000. KTM 200 Duke is powered by a 199.5cc, single cylinder engine producing 25 PS and 19.2 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The 200 Duke has a 199cc motor that produces 25PS at 10,000rpm and 19.3Nm at 8000rpm. It is BS6-compliant and uses a six-speed transmission. On the other hand, the KTM 250 Duke is powered by a 248.8cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine. This engine produces a maximum power of 30PS at 9000rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7500rpm.

The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with assist and a slipper clutch. The assist function reduces the clutch lever effort while the slipper clutch prevents the rear wheel from locking up during hard downshifts. In terms of performance, the 250 Duke is superior to the 200 Duke.
