2018 KTM 200 Duke: All You Need to Know

What you see here is the 2018 KTM Duke 200 and it follows the same design language as all other Dukes from the lineup while has certain features that makes it the exclusive one. The changes within the engine are still hidden while we can safely assume that the power values will rise to counter the increased weight.

2018 KTM Duke 200 uses LED indicators, same frame as the 250 Duke, full sized exhaust, new fuel tank and aerodynamically more efficient design. Pricing will surely go up, most probably making the motorcycle cross the INR 1.60 lakh ex-showroom mark with this update.

5 Differences from 390 Duke Explained!

# Headlight

2018 KTM 200 Duke carries a different headlight, which is no doubt within the same design language but providing it with a different character. The center section here is a single compartment unlike the divided one in the 390 Duke.

KTM will be using around 3 LED’s in the baby Duke, which seems to be positioned in the center of the headlight like the Duke 250. The DRL’s are shared with the other models while the headlight fairing has been enlarged to compensate for the division panel space.

# Instrument Console

The console on the bigger 390 Duke is a colored LCD unit with MY Ride option while this Duke uses a different console with more thickness, indicating the use of a watered down version of the screen or even the older console with a different background light, most probably White on the 2018 model. More details will soon be available for the console of the 200 Duke.

# Alloy Wheels & Frame

The wheels and frame on the 2018 KTM 200 Duke are same in terms of design but are differently painted in order to provide it with its unique character. The alloy wheels are left Black while the second half of the frame is now painted Orange. The same section of the frame was White in 390 Duke.

# Ride by Wire Throttle

2018 KTM 200 Duke could lose the ride by wire throttle system from its setup as this only could keep the costs under check. This would even mean that the motorcycle may not be future proof and will not get any of the updates regarding this new technology. It may even lose the buttons on the left side of the handlebar as the instrument console is even different.

# ABS

390 Duke is equipped with ABS from the very first day while 200 Duke was always kept away from the same. Even the 2018 KTM 200 Duke seems to miss on the ABS factor, which can be clearly seen in the image below in which the rider is performing a stoppie.

But as Indian government has made ABS mandatory for all 125cc bikes and above, so we can expect 2018 Duke 200 to get 2-channel ABS when it launches in India by end of this year or early 2019.
