KTM 125 Duke Bookings Open in India, Launch Price Around Rs 1.25 Lakh

Something that was only possible in the dreams of automotive enthusiast is turning into reality in the Indian market. A recent report confirms that dealers from Mumbai and Pune have started accepting bookings for KTM 125 Duke for a token amount of INR 1000. They have confirmed that the launch will take place in 2018, most probably around end November or early days of December. The report also clears that price difference between 125cc and 200cc Duke will be around INR 25,000. Further, the design lines are also said to be shared between all four Duke models. Adding ABS to the same will bring a huge price jump and get an expected INR 1.69 lakh worth price tag for the updated Duke 200 model. In comparison, the Duke 125 with CBS will retail for around INR 1.25 lakh, claiming INR 25,000 of drop in comparison to the ongoing non-ABS Duke 200 model. It will use the same equipment as Duke 250 and thus, old console and halogen front headlight will stay through the lower placed three models. The total output is restricted to 15HP in certain countries and getting more than that for India is another possibility with the 125cc engine. To keep the costs under check, the India-spec Duke 125 won't be getting the all-digital TFT instrument console, all-LED headlight, Metzeler tyres, Ride-by-wire, KTM MY RIDE, and BOSCH 2-channel ABS (we will most probably get CBS). Why there is no launch plans for KTM 125 Duke in India?
2022-12-29 06:10:26 AM
There are no plans for any 125 cc performance motorcycle including 125 Duke in India. This is because the bikes available here form various manufacturers are already localized in their 150 cc and 200 cc versions. Bringing the 125 cc bikes won't makes sense as they use same premium parts as the bigger ones and won't justify with a price tag that is nearly matching the Indian made bikes with around 300 cc of engine capacity. These are actually good for market with licensing restrictions as 125 cc bikes won't need a license to drive but here in India, the same license helps you drive a 100 cc commuter and 2300 cc cruiser at the same time. Is KTM 125 Duke is available for Tamil Nadu?

KTM Duke is currently available in 200 and 390 variants only. The 125 cc Duke is available in selected markets where license restricts certain age group of people from driving big engine bikes. The KTM 200 Duke is the smallest KTM motorcycle with a high performance 199.5 cc engine producing 24.6 BHP and 19.2 Nm of torque. It is a lightweight street machine with superb acceleration. The 200 Duke comes with a price tag of INR 1,43,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
What is the on-road price of KTM 125 Duke?
2022-12-29 06:04:53 AM
The on-road price of the KTM Duke 125 is not available simply because KTM never plans to launch this motorcycle in India. The reasons behind this are: (i) There won’t be enough buyers. Not many people will be interested in buying a KTM DUKE 125 when a Pulsar 220F is available at a same or a lesser price. (ii) Globally, the 125cc bikes are learner motorcycles. You don’t need a licence to ride them. However, in India you need a licence to even ride a 100cc motorcycle. (iii) The mileage of KTM DUKE 125 is even lower than the Duke 200. Indian buyers are very conscious about the mileage. Not many people would be interested in buying a 125cc bike that just returns 25-27 KMPL.
What is the exact launch date for KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 in India?
2022-12-29 06:02:51 AM
Unfortunately, KTM has no plans to launch the Duke 125 and the RC 125 in India. Possible reasons behind this could be: 1. Not enough customers for either motorcycle because they'll be priced quite high compared to other 125cc motorcycles. Rajiv Bajaj has said "Bring me one customer who'll buy the D125 and I'll launch it in India right away!" 2. Mileage is a big concern for Indian customers. Both the 125 cc bikes by KTM have reported a mileage of just 25-27 KMPL. This is because KTM engines are tuned for performance, and neglect other factors such as fuel efficiency. 3. The 125cc offerings by KTM are available in the European market only because the learner limit is 125cc and/or 15 Hp.

The KTM Duke 125 is not available in India as KTM has launched only the 200 and 390 series of Duke in India. It is said to return a mileage of 30 kmpl and the engine is capable of taking the little Duke to 120 kmph. It is water cooled and we expect it to be around INR 90,000 if ever launched.
