KTM 200 Duke is the best motorcycle available in the Indian market around its segment. It comes with a 199.5 cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine, producing 25 HP at 10,000 rpm and 19.2 NM at 8,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
KTM 200 Duke features Orange alloy wheels and ABS-equipped brakes at the front end. It is priced at INR 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and has no direct rival in the Indian market. KTM has placed the same at a premium of INR 50,000 over other 200cc bikes of the country.
Indirectly, it can rival nearly every bike ranging between the 200-300cc segment, even beating most of them with its bunch of advantages over the others. Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200, and Hero Xtreme 200R are three of its segment rivals.
1) Lightweight Performance: The motorcycle is very aggressively built in comparison to all the others around its segment. The light nature favours quick acceleration and helps in maintaining a better fuel efficiency figure.
2) Equipment-Rich: It comes with the same equipment as the range-topping RC 390 in India. This makes it much better at handling and performance quotient.
3) Informative Console: The 200 Duke comes with a fully digital instrument console with every bit of detail the riders need on their way. The display is compact and full of information.
4) Comfortable Seating: It comes with a nice seating position, even making it easy for the pillion to stay intact on the rear seat. Most bikes are not that pillion friendly at this price point.
5) Pricing: The price part is the best thing for the 200 Duke. Using the best quality equipment, it undercuts the 250 Duke by nearly INR 20,000 (ex-showroom), that too by adding ABS to the package.
6) Mileage: It returns a nice mileage figure if driven with a light hand on the throttle. This may not matter to most riders but still, saving money on fuel is a plus point. You can expect it to return around 30 kmpl in city and close to 40 kmpl on the highways.
7) Single-Channel ABS: KTM offers front brake ABS on the 200 Duke for just INR 9000 over the non-ABS variant. This is the most affordable ABS setup for a performance brand like Duke.
1) Black Frame: The availability of just a Black frame makes it look a bit dull against the other KTM machines in the country. KTM could have painted the same along with alloy wheels.
2) Engine Heating: It can be annoying sometimes, especially in hot weather and heavy traffic. This happens with the majority of KTM bikes due to hot Indian weather.
3) Small Fuel Tank: The 10.2-litre fuel tank provides a limited amount of kilometres to the bike. If you drive more, frequent refills would annoy you for sure.
