KTM 790 Duke Bookings Open in India; Limited to 100 Units

The long-awaited KTM 790 Duke streetfighter has been recently spotted in Bangalore. The unofficial bookings for the motorcycle have also commenced at some of the authorized dealerships in select cities across India. The bike can be booked at a token amount of INR 30,000. The official launch of KTM 790 Duke is expected to happen on September 5, 2019. As per the leaked details, the bike will come with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 8.50 lakh while the on-road price of the bike will lie around INR 10.50 lakh.

According to the sources, KTM will only bring 100 units to India first and they will come equipped with a BSIV-compliant engine. The brand will launch the BSVI-compliant version next year. The company will try to localise the 790 Duke in the coming months to make the price tag more affordable.

The upcoming bike will be exactly similar to the International-spec model though, for the Indian market, the KTM 790 Duke will get a saree guard, an engine guard, and a pillion grab rail. The ground clearance of the bike looks impressive while the front end of the bike features sleek tank extensions and an aggressive-looking all-LED headlight.

Mechanically, the bike will come powered by a 799cc, twin-cylinder engine that is good enough to produce 105 HP of maximum power with 86 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 790 Duke will compete with the like of Ducati Monster 821, Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple S, and the Suzuki GSX-S750 in the Indian market.
