KTM India fans would feel delighted to know that KTM 790 Duke Price could be under INR 6 lakh for a very solid reason. UK price for the new KTM 790 Duke is £8499, roughly equating to INR 7.30 lakh.
When compared to the younger 390 Duke, which is priced at £4699 (approximately Rs. 4.04 lakhs), price of 790 Duke is less than double the price of Duke 390 in UK. The 390 Duke is actually imported from India.
Equating both the statements and a fact that it will be assembled in India, KTM will not charge a much higher tag for the twin cylinder machine. They even retail an A2 license friendly version in the UK for £8199 (INR 7 lakh approx).
The CKD route of the motorcycle will raise some cost but sharing parts with 390 Duke can help them keep cost under check. Direct rivals to the new KTM 790 Duke includes Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple S and Yamaha MT-09.
Z900 is well priced at INR 7.68 lakh while other two are much higher on the price graph. Placement of Duke 790 under INR 6 lakh will guarantee the downfall of all these machines at once.
Duke 790 is highly loaded and seems to offer more value for money than any other around the segment. Although, Z900 is more powerful but lacks the electronic features on offer through the new Duke.
KTM 790 Duke is powered by a 799cc, twin cylinder engine producing 105 HP at 9000 rpm and 86 Nm at 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As others are not that equipped, 790 Duke comes with a quick-shifter.
KTM offers 43 mm USD forks, dual front 300mm disc brakes and ABS as standard. Still, buyers who are looking for a deal in less than 1 year may not get their hands on the street fighter. Expected launch date is projected within around end of 2018 or early 2019.
