KTM 890 Duke in the Making; To Rival Kawasaki Z900

According to the recent buzz, KTM is working on introducing an all-new 890 Duke in its naked motorcycle portfolio. Since the 790 Duke is equipped with a Euro 5 engine, the lesser power generation is affecting the popularity of the motorcycle brand ever since the introduction of the more powerful Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821, and Triumph Street Triple RS. To stay ahead in the game, KTM plans on revealing the 890 Duke with more power and a better power-to-weight ratio.

With the increase in the engine displacement, the KTM 890 Duke will further offer 15HP-20HP more power when compared to the 105HP generated by the Duke 790. One can expect the 890cc machine to compete with the likes of Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple RS and the Ducati Monster 821 which currently offers a maximum power of 125HP, 123HP, and 109HP respectively.

In addition to this, the rumoured motorcycle will be equipped with higher-spec Brembo brake callipers at either end. Apart from these, the motorcycle is expected to retain the mechanical traits of its 790 sibling which includes the addition of cornering ABS, traction control, quick shifter as well as three riding modes.

The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer is expected to unveil the prototype of the 890 Duke at the upcoming EICMA 2019 while one can expect the production-spec variant of the motorcycle to launch by mid-2020. The brand is also expected to add a 500cc parallel-twin engine to its portfolio in the coming months though, no official confirmation has been made on the same. As far as the launch of 790 Duke is concerned, the streetfighter was recently spotted in India and it is expected to launch on September 5, 2019.
