KTM 390 Duke witnessed a moment of shame when a rider reported engine case cracking while riding at just 30 kmph. Hardest part of a motorcycle’s body, engine cover breaks down in rare cases, most being fatal accidents and high altitude falls.
Kuber Bhatia, an owner of Old KTM 390 Duke, registered a breakdown when he was riding inside the city. He heard a blast sound from the engine and suddenly, the bike came to halt. The motorcycle was bought in August 2016 for INR 2.25 lakh and has covered just 6000 km.
According to the owner: “I bought KTM Duke 390 in August 2016 and since I have bought this bike it was giving me perpetual problem. There were vibrations, engine oil problems and the list goes on. But today I had a close escape. While coming back from office my bike started giving a very unusual, loud noise and suddenly I heard a blast. When I checked, the bike’s engine (which is made up of high-end aluminium, as they claim) had a HUGE CRACK. The bike could have caught fire or the oil could have spilled over me.”
The owner claims that his KTM 390 Duke has never been into an accident. It was even serviced from KTM Lajpat Nagar dealership at proper interval. Kuber is waiting for KTM India to respond on this issue as no official word on the problem has been received till date.
No possible reason was found in general and only KTM could explain the matter as a bike under warranty should not have brought such problem to the rider. The earlier version of KTM 390 Duke has been on sale in India since 2013.
