New-Gen KTM Duke 390 to get Radar-Based Cruise Control System

New-Gen KTM Duke 390 to get Radar-Based Cruise Control System

As far as we know, KTM has no shortage of innovative and creative ideas and this time, the global brand’s upcoming project has got leaked through a set of patent images. According to the details available, KTM is now working on 390 Supermoto with the patent relating to the radar-based cruise control system. The upcoming technology by KTM is the same as developed by Bosch but it is found in premium adventure motorcycles such as the 2021 BMW R1250RT and the Ducati Multistrada V4.

The Austrian manufacturer back in 2018 announced that they are working on new technology and they are developing a model that is going to use the upgraded technology probably in the near future and last year, KTM’s 1290 Super Adventure was spotted having the same radar-based cruise control system.

As per the recent update, the next-gen KTM Duke 390 patent images indicate that the engine will remain unchanged but the fuel tank, subframe, and chassis are upgraded and new. One can also spot a change in the wheel design from alloys to wired spoke wheels.

As mentioned in the previously leaked document, the next-gen Supermoto radar-based cruise control can be seen in the entry-level KTM models like the 125, 250, and 390 series. The patent further indicates the different ways the front sensor radar will be accommodated making way into the headlamp of the next-gen KTM Duke 390, which is expected to get this feature with the next upgrade next year.

The lower portion of the headlamp is in a similar shape as in the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, it is a possibility that the radar sensor can become the real deal in the KTM Duke range and the third design can be adopted for the Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen motorcycles and in the Norden ADV as well.
