The next-gen KTM RC 200 sportbike has been spotted testing on the Indian roads for the very first time. It is a well-known fact that KTM is working on the next-gen versions of RC 125, RC 250, RC 200, and the RC 390 for quite some time now. Out of these four sportbikes, we won’t be getting the 250cc RC anytime soon, while the 125, 200, and 390 models are expected to launch in India in the coming months.
Like the next-gen RC 390, which has been spotted testing in the European countries multiple times, the new model of KTM RC 200 also features an all-new design except for the hardware parts like engine, brakes, tyres, and suspension components.
Going by the design, the next-gen RC 200 features an all-new front fascia, side fairing and most importantly, the frame under its body. The sportbike now features the same mainframe as the KTM 200 Duke, covered partially under the new fairing and finished in orange shade. The subframe of the 2021 model of RC 200 seems to be slightly different in comparison to the 200 Duke.
Mechanically, the new-gen KTM RC 200 would be equipped with the same 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine, which would come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It is expected that KTM may also tweak the engine to generate slightly more power and torque. The current-gen model is good for a maximum power of 25HP along with a peak torque of 19.2 Nm.
In terms of pricing, the new model of RC 200 is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 2.15-2.20 lakhs. In comparison, the current-gen model of RC 200 is available for INR 2.04 lakhs.
