The EICMA 2017 saw the return of the most iconic scooter brand, Lambretta in the International market. The brand had announced its plan to enter the Indian market in December 2018, and now they have revealed that they will launch two new Lambretta scooters in India to give a tough competition to the very famous Piaggio Vespa lineup.
Lambretta will officially be unveiling their all-new electric scooter prototype at the Auto Expo in February 2020. The electric scooter is currently being designed in Italy, and no official details have surfaced on its initial specifications as of yet. We might have to wait for the official launch for getting hands on all the details.
In addition to the Electric Vehicle (EV), Lambretta is also planning on introducing their top end scooter variant, the Super Lambretta in India. According to the reports, the Super Lambretta will be one of the largest offerings from the brand till date and will get premium features with class-leading specifications.
For making their presence known in the Indian market, Lambretta has collaborated with the Bird Group and Lohia Auto for the development purposes. In addition to this, the brand’s parent company, Innocenti is also planning on setting up a production facility for the Lambretta scooters near Mumbai, India.
The production house will be a development and exports hub for the major neighbouring countries, though, no further details have surfaced on the same. With the launch of two new scooters in the Indian market, the brand is primarily focusing on getting a strong foothold in the country and work towards managing the declining interest in the scooter segment.
