New Lambretta Scooter Showcased @ EICMA 2017: Lambretta recently revealed 3 new scooters at EICMA 2017. All three of them are based on the same platform, simply switching engines that are actually 50cc, 125cc and 200cc in displacement. The nostalgic brand name may bring any one of these, depending on the market scenario of India in 2019.
Yes, it will still take more than one year for the brand to enter global markets like India. Lambretta has named its scooters V50 Special, V125 Special and V200 Special respectively, clearly mentioning the engine size in its moniker. The brand was available in India from 1950’s to early 1990’s.
Indian market will most probably get V125 as their perfect Lambretta. It measures 1900 mm in length, 690 mm in width and 1130 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 1330 mm while 770 mm of seat height is offered as standard.
Lambretta V125 is powered by a 124.7cc, fuel injected engine producing 10 HP at 8500 rpm and 9.2 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a CVT. Electric starter stays standard on all the models. The scooter comes with wider rubber (110/70 & 120/70) for both front and rear wheel. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic shock absorber at the rear.
The 125cc scooter comes with 220 mm disc brake for both front and rear wheel. It comes with CBS as standard. The bigger 200cc model comes with standard ABS and looks exactly the same as younger models. All models are equipped with LED lights, 12v charging socket and a 6.5 liter fuel tank.
Lambretta will try its best to arrive with an assembly line in India as that is the only way to keep costs under check in India. V125 will rival none other than Vespa 125cc series of scooters in the country.
