5-Door Mahindra Thar Rendered – Looks Like Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Mahindra & Mahindra’s second-gen Thar, which was launched back in 2020, was the biggest hit in the Indian market. Though it was a new model, it still had the features of everyday-use vehicles for Indian families. Hence, the brand has decided to bring a more practical model with enhanced off-road features and the same exterior design. It has already been revealed earlier that the company is currently working on the 5-door version of the SUV, and the recently surfaced spy shots confirmed that.

The spotted Mahindra Thar was fully camouflaged but still had some hints related to its new design language, like the tyre size, which seems to be larger than the 3-door version and will feature a more muscular front than before. Taking into consideration the spy images, Pratyush Rout has made rendered images of the forthcoming Thar in multiple colours and in terms of looks, it looks like the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. As per the media reports, this next-gen model is still in its initial stages and the manufacturer seems to be trying on multiple colours, underpinnings, powertrains etc.

The designer has rendered the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar in colours like Red, Green, Grey, Blue, Black, and Orange. While it comes to the changes in the new-gen model, it is most likely to come with an extended length size to offer more spacious seat space for 3rd-row occupants. Besides the front fascia update, Mahindra is also anticipated to offer a new suspension setup for better ride quality.

Speaking of the powertrain, the 5-door Mahindra Thar is most probably going to be powered by the same engine but with a new state of tune. The currently offered powertrains are a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. In terms of launch, the forthcoming Thar is expected to hit the Indian market by 2023, and once launched, it is going to rival the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door SUV.
