2022 MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5 Makes Official Debut

Last week at EICMA, MV Agusta announced something pretty different. It is a pair of brand new adventure bikes, as part of their Lucky Explorer Project. The bikes are inspired by the Dakar rally racing bikes by Cagiva Elefant. First up is the MV Agusta 5.5, which is built in partnership with the Chinese manufacturer QJ, also responsible for bikes under the Benelli brand.

But the main course in this two-wheel meal is the 9.5, which is a proper middleweight adventure bike. The engine is derived from the 800cc inline triple that they use in their Dragster Brutale Turismo Veloce F3 by making subtle changes to make it suitable for an adventure bike.

Most of the components of this adventure bike, such as the cylinder head, steel intake and exhaust valves, head cylinder base gasket, forged aluminium alloy pistons, etc., are new. The new sizes for bore and stroke have increased the total displacement from 800cc to 930cc, and the result is 123 hp at 10,000rpm and a max torque of 102Nm at 7,000rpm.

The MV Agusta 9.5 offers three gearbox configurations: manual, smart clutch system (Rekluse) and the cyborg electric actuated gearbox. The steel frame has a bolt-on double-cradle subframe and weighs 220 kilos as a whole with an adjustable seat height feature. It has more power and style than something like the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro.
