Effect of GST on scooters brought mixed results in the Indian market. Those who had already hiked the prices before GST got more fame with considerable reductions on July 1, 2017 while brands like Vespa and Aprilia played fair with no initial hike and actual increase in price due to their rising operational cost. What if they have hiked 1,000 before the date and shown INR 700 off after July 1? They did the other way and hiked the price of all models by up to INR 272.
Vespa VXL 150 Limited, the most expensive model in the list (INR 96,028 ex-Pune), got INR 272 added in its earlier price tag. Other 150 cc models got a hike ranging between INR 249-258. Vespa LX 125 was earlier priced at INR 69,495 and now cost INR 69,714.
Overall, the changes in Vespa lineup were not that loud as all other manufacturers of India. Aprilia, on the other hand, saw a drop in prices of both the scooters. The changes are even half of those seen on Vespa models.
Aprilia SR 150 got a price cut of INR 106 while SR150 Race dropped its price by INR 108. For those who are wandering about overall changes in on-road pricing, expect it to rise in all scooters as 3 percent of addition on insurance tax will take things near to the older value.
In case of Vespa, expect all models to be expensive by INR 500 (on-road). The change in prices of Aprilia superbikes was not disclosed. Most probably, all will witness a rise of around 2 percent in price.
