2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird Spotted Undisguised [New Photos]

All set to be launched in a short while, the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird has been spotted undisguised in a new set of photos. The recently-surfaced images of the most anticipated motorcycle from the brand give the enthusiasts new details on what to expect from the motorcycle.

Coming to the front fascia, the upcoming motorcycle variant has been equipped with a rather small round headlight unit as compared to the currently available model while getting a single-pod instrument console. The brand has further equipped the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird with a split-seat set up in addition to offering a redesigned fuel tank as well as revised body panels.

Coming to the rear of the motorcycle, the brand has equipped the 2020 model with a round tail light unit, which is mounted on the rear mudguard while the turn indicators have been placed on either side of the number plate. The rear seat of the motorcycle is further mated to a split grab rail. The handlebar unit on the motorcycle has also been redesigned while the footpegs have also been offered a revised position.

Powering the updated Thunderbird will be an all-new BS6-compliant engine and one can expect the new displacement to be close to 400cc. The brand is expected to drive the new engine for the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird from the 650cc Twins while the exact power and torque figures will be revealed at the time of the official launch. The use of a fuel-injection system will further optimize the power output.

The suspension duties on the updated motorcycle are handled by conventional telescopic forks at the front while the rear features dual shock absorbers. The disc brakes on either side will be mated to a dual-channel ABS unit as standard.

One can expect the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird to launch in India in the early weeks of next year with an expected premium of around INR 20,000 in comparison to the currently available 350cc variant, which is priced at INR 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched in India, the updated motorcycle will compete in the market with the likes of Mahindra Mojo 300, Bajaj Dominar 400, and the Benelli Imperiale 400.
