Royal Enfiled has been working actively on its upcoming middleweight cruiser motorcycles for quite some time, and finally, the RE Classic 650 and Super Meteor have been spotted testing, although not in India, but on foreign land. The Super Meteor could make its global launch this year, followed by the Shotgun and the Classic 650.
Speaking of the design and styling of the bikes, starting with the first bike, it rides on wire-spoked wheels and gets regular front forks, dual rear shocks, a split seat, and circular lights and indicators. The appearance is completed with a broad handlebar, a teardrop-style fuel tank, a huge front mudguard, and a reduced rear fender. And, the bike has twin exhausts because it is powered by the brand’s 648cc parallel-twin engine.
If the spoke wheels give a good indication of the bike’s identity, the positioning of the handlebar and footpegs, as well as the subsequent riding posture of the test rider, confirm that this is the significantly bigger Classic 650. This recently seen Royal Enfield Classic 650 also has side panniers and a top case, as well as a single disc brake on each wheel, indicating that it would have the same power number as the other 650s from the marque.
The Super Meteor 650 is another middleweight bike from Royal Enfield that has been seen on test runs. It too had side and top cases, but it also had a crash guard with auxiliary lighting, a big flyscreen, and a fully chromed exhaust system. With numerous new motorcycles in the works, the brand intends to strengthen its hold on the middleweight bike segment in India as well as abroad. The company has indicated that FY22 will be a pivotal year, with the unveiling of the “largest number of new models” this fiscal year.
