Back on August 29, 2020, the much-anticipated 650cc Royal Enfield cruiser motorcycle was spotted testing on the Indian roads for the first time. Since then, it has become one of the most-talked-about motorcycles in the country, and it has also been spotted testing multiple times at random locations across India.
Based on the Concept KX, which was initially showcased at the EICMA 2018 in Milan, the prototype model features a relaxed feet-forward riding posture, stylish alloy wheels, a long wheelbase, a big fuel tank, a circular analogue-digital instrument console, and a round headlight. As per the latest details available, Royal Enfield is planning to launch two different versions of the 650cc cruiser motorcycle.
Mechanically, the upcoming 650cc Royal Enfield cruiser motorcycle will be powered by the same 648cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine, which also powers the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. It is good for a maximum power of 46.8 HP @ 7150 rpm along with a peak torque of 52 Nm @ 5250 rpm. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper and assist clutch as standard. The brand is expected to tune the power output of the engine to suit the characteristics of a cruiser bike.
In terms of availability, the all-new 650cc Royal Enfield cruiser motorcycle is expected to go on sale in the Indian markets by the mid of next year. It would be competing with the likes of Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Harley-Davidson Street 750 though would be priced much lower than both these bikes.
Some of the key hardware components of the upcoming RE motorcycle include the likes of upside-down (USD) front forks, a twin exhaust system, front and rear disc brakes, a dual-channel ABS unit, and the 650cc motorcycle will most probably also get Bluetooth connectivity and a turn-by-turn navigation system.
Apart from the recently-spotted 650cc cruiser motorcycle, Royal Enfield is planning to launch a lot of products in the coming months like the Hunter, Sherpa, and a 650cc Bobber. In terms of pricing, the 650cc Royal Enfield cruiser motorcycle is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 3.60 lakhs to INR 3.90 lakhs.
