BS6 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Spotted Testing in India

BS6 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Spotted Testing in India

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 were launched in India in 2018 and both the motorcycles immediately became crowd favourite considering their affordable price tag and excellent displacement. The retro styling and optimum performance have already made them climb the sales chart in no time. Recently, an uncamouflaged version of BS6 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has been spotted testing in India.

The prototype model of the motorcycle features red license plates and is expected to be launched in the market in early 2020. Considering the excellent customer response to the standard styling, the BS6 model has not been subjected to major cosmetic changes.

The exhaust tip on twin canisters has been offered a slightly different design flowing towards the rear while the brand will be offering a body-coloured pillion seat cover as an accessory. The cylinder head of the motorcycle might have been subjected to minor changes considering the transformation to the BS6 engine. Except for these changes, the motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged.

Powering the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 will be a BS6-compliant 648cc, twin-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 47 HP and a peak torque of 52 Nm. The motorcycle will retain the 6-speed transmission. In addition to the CGT 650, the 2020 model of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 will also be equipped with the same BS6-compliant engine.

The brand is likely to update its entire portfolio with a BS6-compliant engine in the coming months. We can expect the updated BS6-compliant models to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 while the test mules of the new Classic and Thunderbird series have been spotted several times testing on the Indian roads. The brand recently also launched the most affordable Bullet X series in the Indian market. The motorcycles get minor cosmetic changes though the power output remains the same.
