As per a recent report by IAB, the production of the BS6 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 has been commenced and the motorcycle is expected to launch in the coming days. The brand recently also launched the BS6-compliant variants of the Classic 350 and the Himalayan adventure motorcycle. In terms of looks, the BS6 model of the Thunderbird 350 is expected to stay more or less the same in comparison to the BS4 version.
The BS6 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 will be equipped with a catalytic converter that will be packed inside the canister. In addition to that, the motorcycle will also be equipped with an oxygen sensor to meet the BS6 emission norms which will be implemented in the country on April 1, 2020. At present, no details are available regarding the power and torque figures of the BS6-compliant model though one can expect the motorcycle to generate the same output figures as that of the BS6 Classic 350.
Powering the BS6 RE Classic 350 is a 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 19.1HP @ 5250 rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed transmission.
As per the details available, the BS6 model of the Thunderbird 350 will be more refined and smooth due to the addition of the electronic fuel injection. The brand will be offering the updated version in new colour schemes while the price range is expected to get a hike by around INR 10,000. At present, the BS4 model of the Thunderbird 350 series starts at INR 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom).
Royal Enfield recently also announced that their 500cc motorcycle lineup will be discontinued before the implementation of the BS6 emission norms in the Indian market. To commemorate the 500cc UCE engine, the brand has also launched a limited-edition Classic 500 model that will be available through an online sale on February 10, 2020.
