Royal Enfield is working on new 350cc lightweight motorcycles for the Indian market to target a wider audience base. Since the brand is only known for offering bulky motorcycles, the upcoming lightweight motorcycle portfolio will target youngsters and women riders in the country.
One can expect the upcoming motorcycle range from the brand to feature a slimmer body design in addition to getting lower and comfortable riding seats. The reports also suggest that the new lightweight motorcycle range will be the most affordable among the other products in the brand’s portfolio.
The new motorcycles will weigh significantly lighter than the current-gen Royal Enfield bikes like Bullet, Classic, Meteor, Thunderbird and the 650cc Twins. Currently codenamed J1C, the debut product in the lightweight segment is expected to make an official entry in the coming months.
One can further expect the lightweight Royal Enfield motorcycles to launch under the “Explorer” moniker. The brand is specifically working on the development of lightweight motorcycles by keeping into consideration the recently gathered feedback from the women riders as well as the younger generation of bikers.
Commenting on the plans to launch the lightweight range, a spokesperson from Royal Enfield said – “While we cannot comment about future product line-ups, we can confirm that at Royal Enfield, we assign huge focus on keeping our motorcycles accessible and approachable to all, in an endeavour to bring more people to experience pure leisure motorcycling.”
