Royal Enfield 650cc Engine Revealed: Royal Enfield has officially taken the covers off from its all new 650cc, twin cylinder engine. As it was expected to be a 750cc unit, the engine is first of its kind in brand’s history and carries 648cc of exact displacement. The motorcycle duo carrying this engine were not revealed at that event.
The new Royal Enfield 650cc engine is air/oil cooled and carries fuel injection to meet strict emission norms globally. Output values are quite impressive at 47 HP at 7000 rpm and 52 Nm at 4000 rpm. This makes the engine good for a three digit speedometer indicated speed throughout the journey.
Royal Enfield has considered the A2 licensing regulation strictly as the power values does not exceed 35 kw limit specified under the norms. This makes the upcoming motorcycles a good option to consider in Europe too. Royal Enfield claims that the new engine has been tested over 10 lakh kilometers across India and Europe.
It can maintain speeds of around 130-145 kmph with ease and thus, a top speed of anything less than 175 kmph can be expected from the all new rumbling motor. However, the iconic thump will not be a part of this machine from its beginning.
The motorcycle carrying this engine has been seen under test at various locations, hinting at some important inclusions like ABS as standard. Royal Enfield has even claimed that the motorcycle equipped with this new engine will be sold with same components all over the world. EICMA 2017 is the perfect platform and thus, they will unveil the future of Royal Enfield motorcycles in Milan.
The engine size now makes it lesser in competition with Triumph Bonneville but on the other side, it gives birth to an all new segment that will cater the needs of buyers looking for a no-nonsense motorcycle around INR 3.75-4.00 lakh. Even the Harley-Davidson Street 750 starts at INR 5.15 lakh.
